Leapmotor International plans to produce the Leapmotor B05 electric vehicle at the Stellantis manufacturing plant in Zaragoza, Spain, expanding its European manufacturing footprint following the start of B10 production at the same facility.
The announcement marks another step in Leapmotor’s long-term European strategy, with Zaragoza set to become a key production hub for the Chinese electric vehicle brand. The B10 officially entered production at the Spanish plant on October 16, while the B05 is planned as the second Leapmotor model to be manufactured there.
The move highlights the growing industrial partnership between Leapmotor and Stellantis, combining Chinese EV technology with established European manufacturing capabilities.
The planned addition of the B05 to Zaragoza’s production lineup reflects Leapmotor International’s broader strategy of bringing vehicle manufacturing closer to European customers.
Rather than relying on a single locally produced model, the company aims to establish a stronger industrial presence in Europe by expanding the range of vehicles manufactured within the region.
The approach combines Leapmotor’s expertise in electric vehicle development with Stellantis’ manufacturing infrastructure, production capacity and established quality standards. It also integrates the brand more deeply into Europe’s automotive supply chain and industrial ecosystem.
For Leapmotor, producing vehicles in Europe is about more than local assembly. The company aims to work with regional suppliers, skilled employees and established manufacturing operations to support its long-term expansion.
The Stellantis plant in Zaragoza is emerging as an important part of Leapmotor International’s European industrial plans. With B10 production already underway and B05 production planned as the next step, the facility will support the brand’s growing presence in the European electric vehicle market.
The strategy follows a local-for-local approach, under which vehicles are manufactured closer to the markets they serve. This allows Leapmotor to combine global product development with regional manufacturing expertise.
The planned B05 production also demonstrates the potential of the partnership between Leapmotor and Stellantis, which brings together the former’s electric mobility technology and the latter’s established European industrial network.
However, Leapmotor has not yet announced a specific start date for B05 production at the Zaragoza facility.
Danilo Annese, CEO of Leapmotor International, said the planned production of the B05 represents another major milestone in the company’s European expansion.
Following the launch of B10 production, the addition of a second model would reinforce Zaragoza’s strategic importance and bring Leapmotor’s technology closer to European customers.
The collaboration also underlines Stellantis’ role in supporting Leapmotor’s international growth through its manufacturing expertise and industrial infrastructure.
As competition intensifies in Europe’s electric vehicle market, expanding local production could become an important part of Leapmotor’s efforts to establish a stronger foothold in the region.
With the B10 already being manufactured in Spain and the B05 planned to follow, Zaragoza is positioned to play a growing role in the brand’s European ambitions, connecting global EV technology with European manufacturing capabilities.
