KGM Motors Secures UK Grants for Torres EVX and Musso EV Models

KGM Motors UK is enhancing accessibility for its electric vehicle lineup by qualifying both the Torres EVX and Musso EV for government grants, making them more appealing to potential buyers.

The Torres EVX can now benefit from a £1,500 Electric Car Grant, effectively lowering its starting price from £35,495. Meanwhile, the Musso EV taps into the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, positioning its final cost at £39,995, VAT included.

These grants aim to make the transition to zero-emission vehicles more feasible for the average consumer. Notably, the discount is directly applied through participating retailers, eliminating the need for separate applications by buyers.

KGM Torres EVX: Features and Benefits

The Torres EVX stands out as KGM's dedicated electric SUV, offering a spacious interior complemented by practical utility and an eco-friendly powertrain. It utilizes a 73.4kWh BYD lithium iron phosphate battery, which employs cell-to-pack technology, enabling an impressive range of up to 287 miles according to WLTP standards.

With a power output of 207 PS and 339 Nm of torque, this electric SUV can also tow up to 1.5 tonnes, making it an attractive option for families and adventurers alike. Its cargo capacity, fluctuating between 703 to 1,662 litres, ensures ample room for various activities.

A notable feature is the vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, which allows users to power equipment and gadgets directly from the car’s battery. Rapid charging is efficient as well, taking approximately 28 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% with an appropriate charger.

Add in a compelling 10-year or 1,000,000 km warranty on the battery, and the Torres EVX presents a strong case for consumers contemplating the shift to electric.

KGM Musso EV: Practicality Meets Performance

Transitioning into the pickup segment, the Musso EV showcases KGM’s electric technology with a focus on versatility and load capacity. Priced at £39,995 with the government incentive applied, this model is touted as the most affordable electric pickup in the UK market.

Equipped with an 80.6kWh BYD battery, the Musso EV boasts a WLTP city-driving range of up to 290 miles. Its dual-motor powertrain also delivers an equal performance output of 207 PS and 339 Nm of torque with all-wheel-drive capabilities.

This pickup can manage a payload of up to 690 kg and tow up to 2.3 tonnes when equipped with a braked trailer. In addition, the self-levelling rear suspension enhances its practicality under heavy load conditions.

Similar to the Torres EVX, the Musso EV's V2L technology extends its use beyond transportation, making it suitable for tradespeople who need to power tools and electrical devices on job sites, aligning traditional pickup features with modern electric functionality.

Attractive Financial Incentives for Businesses

Beyond the immediate savings from the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, the Musso EV’s benefits give it added financial appeal. For the tax year 2026/27, this pickup enjoys a mere 4% Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) rate—the lowest in its category across commercial vehicles in the UK.

For a taxpayer on a 20% rate, monthly costs could start from around £30, which, when paired with low maintenance and energy expenses relative to conventional vehicles, creates a compelling case for businesses and fleet managers assessing total ownership costs rather than just initial pricing.

KGM's Broader EV Strategy

The new grant qualifications are part of KGM’s aim to broaden the appeal of electric vehicles while still providing consumers with a diverse choice of powertrain options. Their UK offerings include not just electric models but also petrol, diesel, and self-charging hybrids.

Strategically placing the Torres EVX and Musso EV alongside existing models such as the Torres Hybrid, Actyon Hybrid, Rexton, and diesel Musso, KGM emphasizes flexibility to suit different driving needs and preferences.

With these grants in place, both the Torres EVX and Musso EV gain a competitive edge, appealing to buyers interested in electric mobility solutions in 2026 and beyond.
