Nissan Introduces the PIXO: A Compact Electric Vehicle Tailored for Urban Living

Nissan has revealed its latest electric vehicle, the PIXO, a compact city car tailored for the urban landscape of Europe. With a design that emphasizes ease of navigation in tight spaces and connectivity features powered by Google, the PIXO aims to serve as an essential entry point in Nissan's expanding electric vehicle (EV) lineup.

This new model boasts a 161-mile electric range, standard 50kW DC rapid charging, and Nissan’s debut of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries in a European vehicle. Pre-orders and pricing details are anticipated to be announced in December 2026, ahead of customer deliveries scheduled for early 2027.

Strategically Designed for Urban Environments

Measuring just 3,796mm in length and 1,790mm in width, the Nissan PIXO is engineered for optimal performance in congested urban areas. Its compact dimensions not only make parking a breeze but also enhance maneuverability on narrow streets.

Despite its small exterior, Nissan ensures that the PIXO can comfortably seat four adults. The flexible rear seating options allow owners to adjust for either passenger space or cargo room, proving practical for a variety of uses. The vehicle offers 18 litres of cabin storage and features a 356-litre boot, which includes 50 litres specifically designated for charging cables when the rear seats are raised.

Charging and Range Specifications

Designed to fit the lifestyle of urban EV drivers, the PIXO's 161-mile range supports day-to-day commuting needs. Every version of the PIXO comes equipped with 50kW DC rapid charging as standard, enabling the battery to move from 15% to 80% charge in roughly 28 minutes. For those wanting home convenience, an 11kW AC charger option is also available.

The introduction of the LFP battery signifies a shift in Nissan's approach, focusing on durability and cost-effectiveness, making it suitable for everyday driving.

A Unique Design Aesthetic

Diverging from conventional budget city cars, the PIXO sports a distinctive exterior, characterized by cube-like proportions and clean surfaces. Its design gives the vehicle a bold and confident appearance, supplemented by pixel-inspired lighting and an eye-catching front-end that serves to establish a solid identity in Nissan's electric range.

Intriguingly, the front bumper features what Nissan describes as a playful "robot face," while hidden design elements known as "23" Easter eggs reference the pronunciation of Nissan in Japanese.

Advanced Connectivity and Technology

Focusing on modern tech, the PIXO integrates Google services, delivering built-in navigation, route planning, and enhanced connectivity options. The new Gemini AI assistant will facilitate seamless communication, navigation, and entertainment through natural voice commands, adapting to driver preferences as it learns from conversation history.

The vehicle's tech suite includes a 7-inch driver display alongside a 10-inch central touchscreen, with connectivity managed via the MyNissan app. Additionally, a Face ID system recognizes drivers to automatically adjust settings, enhancing the user experience.

Performance and Driver Assistance Features

Under the hood, the PIXO generates a maximum of 60kW of power, providing immediate acceleration suitable for urban driving. Its 9.9-metre turning circle further enhances its city-friendly design.

Standard on the PIXO, the One Pedal technology allows drivers to accelerate, decelerate, and stop using only the accelerator, streamlining driving in busy traffic. Furthermore, a suite of driver assistance technologies, such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, Lane Departure Warning, and Hands-Free Parking are included, enhancing driver confidence.

Production and Market Readiness

The PIXO has been meticulously engineered for European customers, with production slated to take place at Renault's Novo Mesto facility in Slovenia. This new model expands Nissan's European EV portfolio, positioning itself as a compact and accessible option tailored for urban drivers.
