IVECO Introduces eFLEXY Electric Minibuses with Impressive 300 km Range

At the FIAA exhibition in Madrid, IVECO BUS launched the eFLEXY Line, showcasing a compact electric minibus geared for various passenger transport needs. This release marks a significant European debut, with the new model set to complement the existing eFLEXY City, bringing two electric minibus options to the expanding M2 passenger transport sector.

Each version is six meters long, bolstering IVECO's offerings across its electric vehicle portfolio, which stretches from small passenger shuttles to larger city buses and interurban units, addressing a broad range of transit applications.

eFLEXY Line: Versatile for Different Transport Needs

Targeted at local connections, shuttle services, and interurban routes, the eFLEXY Line serves as a Class B electric minibus that can carry up to 13 passengers plus the driver. Its design focuses on accessibility, featuring a continuous flat floor and a hydraulic lift that enables wheelchair access.

Inside, flexible seating arrangements and touring-style seats offer comfort, alongside ample luggage space of around 3 square meters for longer trips. The cabin benefits from large side windows and a glazed tailgate, flooding the space with natural light and creating a welcoming environment for passengers.

In contrast, the eFLEXY City is categorized as a Class A electric minibus, optimized for urban routes and areas with restricted access. It can accommodate up to 17 passengers under certain configurations, with features designed to expedite boarding and enhance passenger flow.

Battery Performance and Charging Efficiency

Both eFLEXY models are powered by a 205-kW electric motor paired with a 110 kWh high-density battery pack, promising a range of over 300 kilometers based on driving conditions. Significant weight reduction techniques, incorporating aluminum panels and ABS materials, ensure optimal performance without sacrificing durability.

Operators have the flexibility to charge the minibuses via AC power at 22 kW or through DC fast charging at rates of up to 150 kW. Impressively, the battery can be charged to 80% in under an hour when utilizing maximum DC charging, providing essential logistical benefits for transport companies.

Enhanced Driving Modes and Driver Interfaces

IVECO equips both eFLEXY variants with various driving modes and regenerative braking levels to maximize electric range in diverse driving environments. These settings empower operators to tailor energy use according to specific conditions, whether navigating urban gridlock or rural highways.

The eStart package, included for a three-year term, provides critical insights into battery performance, charging status, and vehicle metrics via the IVECO ON portal.

Additional functionalities like eRemote and Uptime Monitoring assist operators in managing charging schedules and preparing the vehicle for use, while optional premium features open access to extensive charging networks and facilitate deeper analyses of fleet performance.

A driver-specific app supports operational effectiveness by delivering real-time vehicle status updates, enhancing management capabilities for electric operations.

Anticipated Market Launch

The IVECO eFLEXY Line and eFLEXY City aim to fill a crucial niche within the compact electric minibus sector, catering to the needs for zero-emission vehicles where larger buses aren't viable.
